Samsung’s New Metal Flagship | The Galaxy Alpha

Samsung has announced its newest member to the Galaxy series phones, the Galaxy Alpha.

The most prominent feature of the new device is the redesigned metal casing. It features a metallic backing, square corners, and it’s only 7 millimeters thick.

The Galaxy Alpha has a Super AMOLED 4.7 inch screen with a resolution of 720p. This is a downgrade from the Galaxy S5 which has a 5.1-inch 1080p display.

However, with a smaller screen size and resolution, the imaging on the device will still remain sharp to the eye.

The Alpha comes with a 12-megapixel main camera and a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera. This is also a slight downgrade from the S5 which features a 16 megapixel main camera.

On the front of the device, you will have the same fingerprint scanner that you can find in Samsung’s current flagship phone.

Inside the device, you’ll find the usual Samsung octa-core processor (Quad 1.3GHz and Quad 1.8Ghz) and 2GB or RAM for some of the most demanding apps and games on the market.

You’ll also have a generous 32GB of internal storage, but with the sacrifice of no micro SD card slot. However, this isn’t a surprise as most thin, metal devices don’t have removable backing (HTC One, iPhone).

All of this hardware will be running Android 4.4 Kitkat with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface glues on top of it.

The Galaxy Alpha is scheduled to launch in the beginning of September (alongside the suspected iPhone 6 launch) and will be available in black, white, gold, blue, and silver. As of now, a price for the phone has not been announced, but it lower than the Samsung Galaxy S5 due to the lower end hardware.

Are you going to buy the new Galaxy Alpha? What do you think is a reasonable price for it? Tell us in the comments below!
