Recall On Starbucks Black & White Mini Cookies- What You Need To Know

Sweet Sam’s Baking Company of the Bronx, NY, has issued a recall on all of their Starbuck’s Black & White Mini Cookies sold on or before April 23, 2015, because they contain milk, which is not specified on the label.

Doctors warn that anyone with a milk allergy can suffer severe, life-threatening side effects, including anaphylactic shock, if they accidentally eat the product.

The recall is for their 2.0 oz. (56 g) clear film package, labeled  “Black & White Mini Cookies”, “A New York City Favorite”, and  has 2 cookies inside.

The packages are stamped with SKU 408785 and UPC code 833282000495 and sold in Starbucks stores in the following states:  New York, Florida, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., Georgia, Ohio, South Carolina and West Virginia.

The recall was issued after Sweet Sam’s discovered the labels did not declare the milk allergen; it appears the omission was the result of an oversight in the design process.

At this time 2 consumers have become ill as a result, but both are expected to be okay.

Anyone who has the product in their possession and has a milk allergy can return it to Starbucks for a full refund.

Consumers with questions may contact Starbucks Customer Relations at 1-800-782-7282, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PST).
