PS4, Xbox One – Is Now The Right Time To Buy One?

PS4, Xbox One – Is Now The Right Time To Buy One?

This month sees the 6 month launch anniversary of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Millions of eager gamers have already moved across to the new systems.

For everyone else, the smarter option might be to let the platforms mature before investing.

A lackluster release schedule, combined with continuing support for previous generations, means that there are few reasons for gamers to part with their cash.

Recent exclusives on both platforms, like Titanfall on the Xbox and Infamous: Second Son on the PS4, have received positive reviews. However, the majority of titles have also been released for last-gen machines and usually cost less on the older systems. So why buy a next-gen console at all?

Titles released across both generations usually have some improvements when played on the newer systems, such as a smoother frame rate and improved graphical effects.

Some games also have more significant differences, like Battlefield 4’s increased player count when playing online.

There will always be a hard-core who purchase any new gaming system on release day, and for them having the latest hardware is worth the cost. Unfortunately, many early adopters are arguably still waiting for a killer title to justify their purchase on either platform.

Do you think now is the time to upgrade to a PS4 or Xbox One?

What’s your reasoning? Leave your comments below!
