 NYC Marathon Coverage:TV Schedule/Streaming/Street Closings & More

The best of the best distance runners will all gather here in New York this Sunday, November 2, to compete in the TCS NYC Marathon.

The race route starts on the Staten Island side of the  Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, then proceeds through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx before coming back into Manhattan to finish at Central Park.

TV Schedule

Race times are as follows:

8:30 A.M. (EST) Wheelchair competitors start.

9:10 A.M. (EST) Professional Women start

9:40 A.M. (EST) Professional Men start.

The race is being covered by both ABC TV and ESPN.  ABC will start it’s coverage at 7 A.M. (EST) and continue live until the race finishes.

ESPN’s coverage starts at 9 A.M. (EST) and will also continue until the race ends.

Live Streaming

In addition to watching on TV you can also watch online through live streaming from both WATCHABC or Watch ESPN.

There will also be Spanish language coverage at ESPNDeportes.com.

These services are free provided you have a subscription to a participating cable provider, as you will need to log in through them to access the stream.

For those who wish to access live streaming on the go through their tablets, smartphones or tablets you can simply download the free apps.

For the WATCHABC app  you can download from iTunes Google Play store, the Amazon app store, or the Windows store .

For the WatchESPN app download from Google Play store, iTunes, Amazon app store or the Windows store.

To Watch In Person

If you want to watch in person you can watch from anywhere along the route but there are several great/popular spots to give you great views, including near the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Pulaski Bridge, Columbus Circle, Madison Avenue Bridge in the Bronx or along 1st Avenue and East 59th street.

Wherever you choose to watch from make sure to get there early so you have a good spot to see the runners.  If you are watching a particular runner you can download the TCS tracking app to see where they are n real-time.

Street Closings 

There will be many street and bridge closures.  In addition to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge you can see a complete list here.

The Verrazano-Narrows upper level will be closed starting at 11 P.M. (EST) Saturday Night (November 1) and the upper and lower levels will both be closed from 7 A.M. (EST) until 3 P.M. (EST) on Sunday, November 2.
