Now You See Me 2 Wants Jon M. Chu To Direct

After Lionsgate made an absolute killing ($350 million) on Now You See Me last year, they have their eyes set on making a sequel, and they’re reportedly courting Jon M. Chu to be the director.

Chu is currently filming Jem and the Holograms, while  Now You See Me 2 is expected to start filming in the fall, with production taking place abroad, so if Chu were to get the job he’d likely have to jump straight from one movie set to another.

Chu’s last movie was G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and before that he directed Step Up 2: The Streets and Step Up 3D, so it’d be interesting to see what he would do with The Four Horsemen.

The twist at the end of Now You See Me opened the door for a wide array of possibilities in the sequel. One of the movie’s co-stars, Dave Franco, recently stated, “I’ve heard a pitch of the story. It’s actually going to be really exciting,” adding “it’s going to be enough of a departure that it doesn’t just feel like a complete copy of the first one.”

Louis Leterrier, who directed Now You See Me, is doing pre-production work on his next project, Grimsby, leaving him unavailable to direct the sequel, opening the door for Chu to step in as director.

Are you excited for the Now You See Me sequel?  How do you feel about Chu as director?  Let us know below.
