New Sunscreen Bands Monitor UV Exposure, Alert User Time For More Sunscreen

Sunscreen Bands WristbandsSunscreen Bands are a new product on the market that allow wearers to monitor their exposure to the sun and harmful UVA/UVB rays.

The wristbands measure UV levels and change color to let users know when more sunscreen should be applied or when sun exposure should be limited.

Sunscreen Bands also work in tandem with the SPF in sunscreen to provide color alerts to users.

Users apply sunscreen directly to the band at the same time they apply sunscreen on their skin and wait for color change indicators throughout the day.

Initially, the band is a beige color, and then becomes a dark purple color when activated by direct sunlight.

When the band turns a light purple or lavender color, that’s when a user knows it’s time to apply more sunscreen again.

Once the band turns a cream or light yellow color, that’s an indication the user has reached the maximum amount of safe sun exposure for the day based upon the SPF of their sunscreen.

Sunscreen Bands are non-toxic; one size fits all, and they’re designed for both adults and children—although they’re not recommended for use in children under the age of three due to the risk of mouthing, chewing, or choking.

The bands are designed to be worn for one day and remain effective going between indoors and out. They are made for any kind of wet or dry outdoor activity and can be worn in pools and salt or ocean water.

Sunscreens containing SPF 15 or higher are compatible with the bands, which can measure UV levels regardless of climate or weather.

The bands can help parents monitor their children’s exposure to the sun and according to the company, “Sunscreen Bands have received The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval and are approved by Parent Tested Parent Approved as the bands are compliant with the Consumer Products Safety Commission regulations.”

Sunscreen Bands retail for $12 for a pack of ten on the Sunscreen Bands website or can be purchased at the following retailers across the U.S. and Canada: CVS Pharmacies, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Bed Bath & Beyond, Weis Super Markets, Unified Grocers, and Giant Tiger Canada.
