2014 NBA Playoffs: Game 3 Recap-Spurs Crush Heat & Take A 2-1 Series Lead

Fans will be talking about last night’s NBA finals game between the Heat and Spurs for years to come as San Antonio handed Miami their 1st playoff loss at home with a brilliant performance.

The Spurs played a nearly perfect, record-breaking 1st half, hitting 19 of their first 21 shots to win game 3 111-92 and leaving Miami stunned and embarrassed on their home floor.

With 9:24 left San Antonio already had 50 points and would end the 1st half with 71.  Miami shot 55.9% for the half, which would have been impressive, but paled in comparison to the Spurs 75.8 %.

Their 75.8% shooting broke the previous record for shooting percent in a half, held by the 2009 Orlando Magic and their 86.7% 1st quarter shooting broke the record for shooting in a quarter set by the 1991 Bulls.

Kawhi Leonard, who had been quiet the 1st two games, led the 1st half assault with 16 points and finished the game with 29.  The whole team contributed, with Danny Green and Tim Duncan both in double figures by the half.

The Spurs led by as much as 25 and the closest Miami got was shaving the lead to 7 in the 3rd quarter, but Ginobli nailed a 3-pointer and San Antonio never looked back.

Miami has dominated at home and the 1st two games had been close, making this win all the more shocking.  Dwayne Wade and LeBron James has 22 points each in the game.

Game 4 is in Miami Thursday night a t 9 P.M. (EST) on ABC.
