Motorola Moto X At Verizon Today!

Motorola Moto X At Verizon TodayThe Motorola Moto X is available today at Verizon. This comes one week after it debuted at AT&T.

Both carriers have the same deal offering the new flagship Moto X smartphone for $199.99 with a two-year contract. The off contract price is a bit different; AT&T offers the phone for $579 while Verizon is a bit more pricey at $599. Moto X is planned for release to all the remaining major carriers soon as well, including Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S Cellular.

The Moto X may be new to Verizon today, but the details about the phone have been available for a bit longer. In true flagship style, Motorola has put all the major features available in other flagship phones into its own signature product.

The Moto X features a 10-megapixel camera that boasts grabbing 75% more light than other standard smartphone cameras, making low lighting conditions less of a problem for picture enthusiasts. Moto X has the Android Jellybean operating system and all the bells and whistles that go with it including voice commands that recognize the owner’s voice without pressing a button.

Unfortunately, it is a slightly older version of Jellybean (4.2.2 vice the more current 4.3), but given the tight integration between Motorola and Google, there’s more than a good chance an upgrade is in Moto X’s future.

While the Moto X has some storage limitations (only 16GB available with no expansion slot), the processors aren’t the best on the market (it has dual core 1.7GHz processors, vice competitors’ quad core processors), and the screen is slightly less capable (it is 4.7 inch like everyone else, but a lower resolution at 720p 1028×720 pixels that isn’t quite full HD), it still has some unique features that may appeal to users.

In the store, black and white stock models are the only choice, but the Moto X can be ordered online with a variety of colors, patterns and engravings meaning it can be a highly customized and personalized phone. For anyone not needing to watch a full HD movie on their phone, that may be enough specialization to gain a following.

In short, the Motorola Moto X makes its debut at Verizon today sporting acceptable smartphone capabilities and an outstanding fast, low light camera for a modest $199.99 with a two-year contract.

Will this be the phone that puts Motorola back on the map?
