Grammy-Award winning singer Miguel has quickly become R&B’s newest sensation with the release of his single “Adorn” off his second album Kaleidoscope Dream.
Nowadays, Miguel is hard at work on his follow-up album to 2012’s Kaleidoscope Dream and has recently revealed to the Hollywood Reporter that he is working with Britain’s rising singer Jessie Ware and his “Power Trip” collaborator J. Cole.
He specifically told the publication that he spent the last few weeks writing new music in Los Angeles and decided to join forces with Cole and Ware when they were both coincidentally working in the same studio as him.
Miguel also explained his desire to work with Kanye West, Most Def, and Jack White, as well as fellow companion Kendrick Lamar, who previously collaborated with him on his “How Many Drinks?” track.
While Miguel’s newest album is currently in the early stages of development, he discusses the creative process saying:
“It was a little daunting because I wasn’t sure how rusty I’d be. I’d been collecting ideas and writing down concepts and phrases and all those things you hoard as you’re moving along, and that very first day in the first hour, we had something special. I think my spirit was ready to go and ride the wave, so to speak. I’ve been so focused on performing and making sure that what we do live is connecting. So now I’m just happy to be in a place where I can have solitude and just create freely.”
Miguel’s growing experience in performing live has greatly influenced his progression as a songwriter for his upcoming album, he states:
“Touring off the first album was really interesting to feel and see how and when the music did or did not connect. I took a lot of time to figure it out. While creating Kaleidoscope Dream that was a huge factor in the sounds I chose. I would like to say this album picks up where Kaleidoscope Dream left off and pushes it further. It will be even more suited for live performance.”
Watch for Miguel’s third album to come out this fall.
