Microsoft Offering Incentives To Windows XP Users

Microsoft is currently offering some extra incentive to consumers still using Windows XP.

From now through April 30, the Microsoft Store is enticing those still running Windows XP on their computers with a new deal.  Buy one of the computers listed on their offer page and get a $50 gift card, 90 days of free support and a free data transfer to your new PC, using Laplink software.

The devices eligible for this deal include laptops, tablets, all-in-ones, and 2 in 1 PC’s.  Brands available in the offer include Dell, HP, Acer, and several others.

Prices ranges are as follows:

  • Laptops  $279 – $699
  • Tablets    $229 – $499
  • All In Ones  $699 – $1199
  • 2 In 1 PC’s  $399 – $1199

The $50 gift card must be on a future purchase, and cannot be used as a discount on the purchase of these devices.

PCWorld reports that “nearly 30% of internet-connected PC’s still use Windows XP.  Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue support and security updates for the operating system as of April 8, 2014.  Computers still running  Windows XP after this date will no longer receive security updates to protect them from viruses, spyware and malware.
