Ladies Home Journal To Fold After 130 Years!!!

ladies-home-journalAfter an unprecedented 133 years in business Ladies Home Journal will end production of it’s magazines print circulation this July.

Magazine Owner Meredith Corp announced that the magazine will continue as a website and in quarterly, special edition newsstand issues.

Meredith produces other women’s magazines, such as Family Circle and Parents, which cover similar topics.  Current subscribers will receive one of these magazines once production ends.

Ladies Home Journal is the oldest women’s oriented magazine in the U.S., putting out it’s first edition back in December of 1833.

At the time it was part of the ‘Seven Sisters‘, a group of magazines geared towards stay at home moms.

Since 2013 their subscriber base fell only .1%  to 3.2 million, which still ranks as one of the highest in the country.

However, the magazine has an older reader base, which dropped ad sales by 14% to $152 million, prompting Meredith to end its publication.

Ladies Home Journal‘s 35 staff members will be out of work since production will now shift from New York to Des Moines, Iowa, where the Meredith Corp is based.

News For Shoppers will update you as more information becomes available.

I am a mom to 2 little boys: a 3 year- old and 2 year-old and they are the only things I love more than writing. I am an avid reader, a big sports fan and love a good deal. Most of all, I love keeping up on the latest consumer news and sharing my findings with all of you.
