Kraft Mac & Cheese: No Artificial Colors/Preservatives By 2016

Kraft is making a change for the better to its Macaroni & Cheese products, the company announced today.

In a statement released by  Kraft Foods, the company announced that their mac & cheese products will no longer contain synthetic, artificial food colors or preservatives.

They also promised it will still have that same great taste everyone loves.

Consumers can expect these changes to be in place by January of 2016 for “Original Kraft Macaroni & Cheese” in the United States, and in Canada for its Kraft Dinner Original by the end of 2016.

The move comes amid sluggish sales for the food giant, who has been targeted in the past for using artificial dyes; the company is hoping this change will make their product more appealing to parents and health conscious consumers.

Kraft spokeswoman Lynne Galia said as much in an emailed statement to reporters, stating that: ” changes were being made to address concerns expressed by consumers, including demands for improved nutrition and “simpler ingredients.”

The company also revealed they plan to replace the artificial colors they use with natural ingredients, like paprika, tumeric and annato.

In addition to their world- famous Macaroni & Cheese, Kraft has other big brands, including Capri, Jell-O, Kool-Aid, Lunchables and Oscar Mayer.

What do you think of the coming changes?  Sound off with your thoughts below.
