Kraft Cheese Singles Recalled

The Kraft Heinz (KHZ) company has voluntarily recalled over 35,000 cases of Kraft Singles due to a potential choking hazard. According to the company, “A thin strip of the individual packaging film may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper has been removed. If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could potentially cause a choking hazard.”

The recall applies to Kraft Singles 3-pound and 4-pound sizes in the American and White style packages. The lots affected have The Best When Used By Date of December 29, 2015, through January 4, 2016.

10 consumers have complained that the packaging that wraps the individual slices have stuck to the cheese; three of those complaints involved choking on the plastic that did not successfully peel away.

Consumers are advised to return the affected packages to the store where they were purchased for either an exchange or full refund. U.S. and Puerto Rico can also contact Kraft Heinz Consumer Relations for a full refund, at 1-800-432-3101, Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm Eastern.

This is the second recall Kraft Heinz has invoked: in March, the company recalled boxes of its macaroni and cheese due to the possibility of metal bits within the packaging.
