Kindle Fire HDX 8.9″ & 7″ Released – Mayday Button, Specs, Prices

Yesterday Amazon released their new Kindle Fire HDX tablets.

The tablets feature 7” and 8.9” HDX displays, a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, and other improvements when compared to previous versions of the Kindle.

The Kindle Fire HDX offers a battery life of 11 hours, dual stereo speakers (Dolby Digital Plus included), twice the memory, and three times the previous processing power.

The display also got an upgrade and the flagship of the series, the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9” is 34% lighter when compared with the past Kindle generation.

The cheapest Kindle Fire HDX 8.9” (16 GB – Wi-Fi only) costs $269, while the overall cheapest tablet, the Kindle Fire HDX 7” (8 GB), costs $139.

Various improvements are included in the new Fire HDX series with a main focus being put in the development of a tablet that is suitable for both work and play. All the features and specifications can be seen on the Amazon pages of the devices in the line.

The one feature that stands out is the Mayday button, which will put customers in contact with an Amazon expert. He/she will offer advice based on the problems that people may have. The service is free and available any time of day or night, an addition that will surely be appreciated by those that do not know much about using Kindle tablets. On the whole, the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets appear to be a strong competitor in the constantly expanding tablet market.
