Jeep Cherokee Recall Issued Due To Defective Wipers- What Owners Need To Know

Fiat Chrysler (FCAU) has issued a recall on over 200,000 Jeep Cherokees due to a windshield wiper defect.

According to the company the wipers can stop working unexpectedly; at this time no injuries have been reported.

The recall affects 2014 model Cherokees: 158,671 are in the U.S., 18,366 are in Canada and 3,582 are located in Mexico.

The rest of the affected Jeeps were sold outside North America.

Fiat suspects that static buildup maybe to blame; static can occur if the wipers are used when their dry and affect the module that powers the wipers, potentially disabling them.

Customers are being notified and dealers will replace or repair the vehicles free of charge.

If your car is part of the recall contact your dealer for more information.

This recall is the latest in a long line of recalls taking place in the car industry in recent months, including one for defective Takata airbags and a recent one for defective keyless ignition systems.
