The champion driver will attempt to bring the #22 Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger across the finish line in first place on June 25 at the NASCAR Road America race. He ill get another chance on August 20 at Montreal.
Villeneuve said that he is excited to be working with the Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday team for these races and that he is “I am really looking forward to joining Penske Racing and getting the chance to race at two of my favorite tracks with the series championship team.” The president of Penske Racing, Tim Cindric stated that Villeneuve would be “a good fit” for the team.
In the last 4 seasons, Jacques Villeneuve has made 8 NASCAR starts. His best NASCAR finish was at Montreal last season when he finished in third place. Penske Racing has also enjoyed some good starts in NASCAR, including 6 wins and the series championship last year with driver Brad Keselowski.
