Jaguar F-Type: Is this the most beautiful thing ever?

Jaguar F-Type: Is this the most beautiful thing ever?

Jaguar has long held the honour of having built the worlds most beautiful car, the E-Type. For decades many would challenge Jaguar for this title, none succeeded.

Jaguar has built a worthy successor. It only took a little over 50 years to do it.

The F-Type was originally released as a convertible, but now can be had with a roof. For those of us desperately trying to retain what little hair is left clinging to our heads this is fantastic news.

When Jag set out to develop this sports car, they  wanted to reclaim the fanfare the original E-Type was met with. It worked.

This car is absolutely stunning from every imaginable angle. You could paint it beige, and it would still illicit the kind longing you would have to hide from your wife.

The body is not the only sexy thing about the F-Type either. The sound it makes is so very naughty, no matter which engine you opt for.

There are three engines, found in three models. Each subsequent model receives more gripping brakes and sporty suspension set ups than the one before. The S and R Type have the option of Ceramic Brakes for serious deceleration needs.

The base F-Type Coupe is powered by a supercharged and intercooled 3L V6 producing 340 hp and 332lb-ft of torque. At no point will you feel your missing out by choosing this model. The engine pops and burbles, and is powerful enough to satisfy any gearhead.

The F-Type S uses the same 3L V6, but it puts out 380 hp and 339 lb-ft. This variant is a little more ferocious than the base model, with a ride that is tauter yet comfortable.

For the F-Type R Jag managed to wedge a 550 hp, 502 lb-ft supercharged and intercooled 5L V8 under the hood. This engine is weapons grade. It propels the car to 60 mph in 4.0 secs and will hit 186 mph before being limited by an electronic nanny.

Turning all the noise into forward motion is an 8-speed sequential shift gearbox. It can be operated by a central gear lever or steering wheel mounted paddles.

As far as practicality goes, the F-Type Coupe has a trunk large enough to swallow two golf bags, if your into that sort of thing. The trunk has a cargo capacity of 407 litres and can be accessed via a powered tailgate.

Being a proper sports car there is only room for 2. Those fortunate occupants will be coddled in a sumptuous interior filled with premium materials. They have the choice of a solid roof or a panoramic glass ceiling.

By using advanced technology, an ultra rigid  light weight aluminum body shell, premium interior materials and three engines that beg to be thrashed, Jaguar has once again reclaimed its rightful position as a pure sports car manufacturer.

The only question left to ask, is this the most beautiful car ever, or just a very close second? What do you think?
