Is T-Mobile’s 4G LTE Launch Imminent?

T-Mobile is the only major US carrier that doesn’t offer 4G LTE – but it looks like that’s about to change.

If you take a look at T-Mobile’s Galaxy S4 alert signup page, right there under an image of the phone is a little T-Mobile 4G LTE logo.

We don’t have an official US release date for the Galaxy S4, but it’s expected to launch late April or early May.

Will T-Mobile launch their new LTE network along with it? Or perhaps even before?

That’s not the only indication that T-Mobile’s 4G LTE is on the way. One T-Mobile user has spotted the network in New York.

According to Gigaom, Milan Milanović forced his Nexus 4 to LTE-only mode and manually scanned for a network connection. He found one, and has since put video evidence on YouTube.

And there’s more… TMONews recently published a leaked document suggesting a number of LTE enabled devices would be launched on March 27th and April 3. That’s less than two weeks away.

T-Mobile is also expected to carry Apple’s iPhone 5 soon.

It should be noted though that these phones will work on T-Mobile’s current HSPA+ network – so the launch of the phones is not dependent on the launch of the LTE network. But if the LTE network does not launch along with them, T-Mobile better get it out pretty quick, as expectations will be running high.

It’s likely the new network will be available in a limited number of cities to begin with and then expand. Earlier this month, T-Mobile announced that they expected their LTE coverage to be available to 100 million people by the middle of this year, and 200 million by the end of the year.

T-Mobile is currently the fourth largest mobile carrier in the US.

What do you think of T-Mobile? Will the roll out of their new LTE network make you think more highly of them? Leave your comments below!
