Golden Krust Issues Another Recall: More Products Removed Due To Undeclared Allergen

Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, of Bronx, NY, is issuing a recall on their Shrimp and Soya patties due to an undeclared allergen on its packaging – eggs.

This is the second recall the company has issued in just over a week: on April 30 the company issued a recall for the same reason on over 9 million of their beef and chicken patties.

The voluntary recall was issued after it was discovered the products were mislabeled. As of now, the company is reporting there have been no illnesses.

The Shrimp and Soya patties were distributed to Golden Krust stores throughout the Northeast via a distributor from Georgia and Florida, as well as three other distributors.

Product cases are marked on the side with the expiration dates: 1/24/2015 – 2/26/2016; each bulk case has 50 individual frozen pieces lined with parchment paper.

Consumers with egg allergies that have these products in their possession should immediately discard them. Eating eggs when you have an allergy to them can result in severe, even fatal, reactions, according to the FDA.

Anyone with questions can call the Golden Krust Consumer Response Hotline at 855-565-0561, which is available 8:00 A.M. – 7:30 P.M. (EST) Monday – Friday or via email at consumerresponse@goldenkrustbakery.com.

There is still no word on how the mistake occurred, but the company is working to fix the problem.

What do you think about Golden Krust issuing another recall for the same issue?  Do you think there is a bigger problem at the company?

Sound off with your thoughts below.
