GM Recalls SUV’s Due To Dangerous Wiper Defect, Warns Owners Not To Use Them

General Motors (GM) has issued a recall on over 32,000 SUV’s due to a windshield wiper malfunction and is warning owners not to use the wipers under any circumstances.

According to GM there is an electrical short in some of their SUV’s that can cause the wiper motor to catch fire.

The SUV’s being recalled are the 2016 models of the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia SUV.

The company is replacing the defective wipers for free and will pick up the recalled vehicles if weather prevents owners from bringing them in; they will also provide rentals if parts are not available.

Car owners who own the SUV’s in question should contact their dealer to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

As of now no fires have been reported – the issue was discovered when a motor overheated at the factory.

Of the 32,000 models being recalled only 6,400 were sold in the U.S.; the rest are in lots at the dealerships.
