George R.R. Martin Says “The Winds of Winter” Will Involve Deaths

Fantasy writer George R.R. Martin, author of the celebrated “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series that has also been made into the acclaimed “Game of Thrones” TV show, commented that the next book in the series will involve a lot of murder.

While talking with Robin Hobb, another fantasy writer, a few days ago in London, Martin slipped this piece of information regarding killing off characters, and hints at what will be coming in his next book.

Martin has said that the way the books are structured now lends itself to make killing characters off easier. The stories originally started with the characters together, and now they have separated out. In the next book, they will be coming back together, which makes it easy to kill some of them off.

He has yet to say when the next book, The Winds of Winter, will be released, but he has revealed that it will feature two battles and involve a meeting between Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister.
