Free Music Fridays: Jan. 2

Looking for free, legal music? We’ve got you covered.

NoiseTrade has a 27-song sampler, Best of What’s Next: Playlist 2015 featuring singles by Guster, Shakey Graves, San Fermin, The Bones of JR Jones, and Will Dailey, among many others.

Other top downloads on NoiseTrade include the 10-song  SerialBox Collection, which is “a live, one-take, multi-cam, multi-track performance video project designed with a simple goal: to capture, in a single take, the truest, most honest version of an artist’s songs.” Artists include David Ramirez, Noah Gunderson, Paper Route, Fiction Family, and Andrew Belle, among others.

Rounding out NoiseTrade’s top five albums are Bear’s Dens Above the Clouds of Pompeii, Liz Vice’s There’s a Light, and ATO Records 13-song Winter Sampler featuring such artists as Brandi Carlile, Old Crow Medicine Show, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

NoiseTrade asks for an email address for each album downloaded, and shoppers will be added to the artist or company’s mailing list. Tips are optional, as is sharing on social media.

On iTunes, the free song of the week is “10,000 Emerald Pools” by Borns, which iTunes describes as “instantly charming.”

Amazon.com’s free music downloads can be difficult to wade through, but the most recent additions with the highest shopper ratings are three tracks by the band Live: “The Way Around Is Through,” “Siren’s Call” and “6310 Rodgerton Dr.”; Christopher Woodward’s “Messe de Requiem: Sanctus”; and Flight Facilities’ “Sunshine,” which features Reggie Watts.

Purevolume’s top downloaded songs of the week are “Acheron” by Fractured Spine; “Third Day of a Seven Day Binge” by Marilyn Manson; “Puchamon Title,” a comedy track by Vete a la Versh; “Contagious” by Night Riots; and “Kingdom” by Grant David.

Check back next week for new downloads.
