Free GTA 5 Beta Access Keys! – Nope, It’s A Scam

Take Two take initiative against GTA 5 beta access scam sites

Eager to grab a free copy of GTA 5 beta before the official version is launched?

You’re not the only one. And scammers are taking advantage of that.

Take Two Interactive, who owns Rockstar Games, the company behind GTA 5, has filed four active cases with the World Intellectual Property Organization against sites claiming to offer free GTA 5 beta downloads or access keys.

According to Fusible, at least one of the sites uses Facebook as part of their scam, asking beta-tester wannabees to share and like their page, along with posting a message promoting the scam site, as part of the requirement to get the beta access key.

We contacted Rockstar’s press office and asked if there are any legitimate GTA 5 beta testing opportunities. We also asked if they had any warnings or advice for consumers seeking these opportunities. They have not replied.

However, if a beta program is offered, we expect that it will be announced by Rockstar itself, perhaps through the Rockstar Newswire.

GTA 5 will be coming out on September 17th in North America. Rockstar recently launched a separate pre-order page for the game.

The game will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It may not work on the PS4 and Xbox 720 when launched.
