Fitbit Recalls Force Activity-Tracking Wristband, Offers Refund

Fitbit Force Activity Tracker Wristband RecallFitbit has recalled its Force Activity-Tracking Wristband due to a risk of allergic reaction and skin irritation.

Close to 10,000 users of the band have reported skin irritations while almost 250 have reported blistering of the skin.

The company hasn’t appeared to have narrowed the specific cause of the allergic reactions yet.

A statement was released noting that, “Users can develop allergic reactions to the stainless steel casing, materials used in the strap, or adhesives used to assemble the product, resulting in redness, rashes or blistering where the skin has been in contact with the tracker.”

The model numbers involved in the Fitbit Force wristband recall include FB402BK, FB402BKS, FB402SL and FB402SLS, and were sold in the U.S. and Canada.

Users can locate their model number on the back of the wristband below the charging port.

According to the company, the wristbands were sold at, “AT&T, Apple Stores, Best Buy, Brookstone, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Radio Shack, REI, Sports Authority, Target and other stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com and Fitbit.com from October 2013 to February 2014 for about $130.”

Fitbit is offering owners of the recalled wristbands a full refund.
