Fair Tuesday Promotes Ethical Shopping

The people behind the #FairTuesday describe themselves as an ethical shopping movement created in response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

At fairtuesday.com, they’ve organized a one-stop shop of 150 partners, many of whom give coupon codes for discounts.

The official Fair Tuesday is Tuesday, Dec. 2, but each partner on the website includes information on its products and discounts separately.

Shoppers looking for clothes, accessories, home decor, jewelry, footwear, chocolate, coffee and more can search the site and then click on links to companies and organizations that offer those products, as well as stories about how those products are making a difference in people’s lives.

“We welcome any sustainable, eco-friendly or fair trade brands from across the globe, creating a positive and sustainable change,” said Ksenia Avdulova, a co-founder of the #FairTuesday movement who is also a digital marketing consultant, fashion blogger, and the force behind Breakfast Criminals on Instagram.

She said in an email that the group’s goal is to “expand our reach in letting every consumer know that he can be creating change simply by shopping for ethical holiday gifts.

“One purchase can change one life. It’s that simple. Start small, and you’re already creating a change. Tell one friend about #FairTuesday and shopping ethically, and you double your impact.”

What do you think? Will you be looking for fair trade or eco-friendly gifts this year?
