Election Day 2016: When, Where & How To Vote

Tuesday, November 8, is election day, and if you want your voice to be heard you’ll need to get out and vote.

For those planning to vote in the NYC areas, as well as the rest of the country, here is what you need to know.

Poll Hours

Poll times vary by state; you can check your states time using this link, which has an interactive map showing opening and closing times for each state

NY: In NY, the polls will be open from 6 A.M.-9 P.M. EST.

Poll Locations

To find out which polling location you are registered to vote at, use this link from the Board of Elections.

Voter Requirements

For those planning to vote, here’s what you need:

    You have to be a U.S. citizen
    You have to meet your state’s residency requirements
    You must be 18 years or older on Election Day
    You must register to vote by your state’s voter registration deadline
    A valid ID; go to this site to find out the ID requirements for this state

Last-Minute Registration

The following states allow you to register on Election Day:

Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota: no registration required, Washington, D.C., Wisconsin and Wyoming.
