Elder Scrolls Online Going Subscription Free

Elder Scrolls Online Going Subscription Free

Bethesda Softworks, the studio that provides the popular “Elder Scrolls” franchise, have announced that their latest digital foray into the mythical world of Tamriel, will be converting into a free-to-play model.

Effective June 9th, “The Elder Scrolls Online,” will become “Tamriel Unlimited,” and will remain available for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 under that name.

Subscriptions will still be available for premium content, called “ESO Plus,” providing bonuses with gaining experience points, gold and crafting, among other perks. Subscribers will also have free access to DLC content. Microtransactions will also be included. Those who opt for the F2P aspect will still have access to patches, but DLC material will have to be payed for.

“The Elder Scrolls Online,” released April 2014, was received by mixed reviews from both critics and general audience, alike. Poor design decisions, plus bugs and glitches that broke quests and separated groups, contributed to the lukewarm reception, and subscriptions never grew beyond a million at a time.

Are you an “ESO” player? Does this affect your decision to try it, despite the negative reviews? As always, let us know in the comments below.
