Dole has issued a voluntary recall of their packaged salads due to possible listeria contamination.
As of this writing their has been 1 reported death and 12 reported illnesses linked to the contamination.
The bags in question were manufactured in Dole’s Springfield, Ohio facility and distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada to consumers and restaurants and other food facilities.
The bags in question are sold under various brand names, including include Dole, Fresh Selections, Simple Truth, Marketside, The Little Salad Bar, and President’s Choice and can be identified by the letter “A” at the beginning of the manufacturing code found on the package in the upper right hand corner.
Other Dole products, including fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and packaged salads from Dole’s other processing facilities (with product codes beginning with the letters “B” or “N”), are not part of this voluntary withdrawal.
The CDC says anyone with these bags in their possession should throw them out.
