Disney Announces New Technology, Walmart Deal

Disney Announces New Technology, Walmart Deal

At a recent press conference, Disney recently announced it will launch Imagicademy, a completely new brand aimed at reaching parents, an unmet niche in the mobile technology marketplace.

Disney was the number 1 developer of kids apps in 2014.

Imagicademy will focus on mobile device technology emphasizing play, storytelling, and learning. The company will make more details available  on December 4.

In a new partnership with Walmart, Disney also announced the rollout of Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA), a digital video service that will be available on Walmart’s VUDU service beginning November 18.

Disney movie collections on VUDU-enabled devices will join other services, such as iTunes and Google Play, and of course are available through the DMA website.

Disney also unveiled two other new technology initiatives: In 2015, ESPN’s leading SportsCenter app will become simply ESPN – giving the company’s website, number 1 mobile website, and number 1 app all the same name. ESPN.com will officially launch on April 1, 2015, the 20th anniversary of ESPN.com.

Finally, the company said it will soon make Walt Disney World ticket purchases available on smartphones, making it truly a smaller world after all.
