Cover Art For Millenium Book Revealed

Although author Stieg Larsson died from a heart attack in 2004, the legacy he began continues. His set of books, coined The Millenium Series, will have its fourth volume published in the United States as “The Girl in the Spider’s Web.”

The book, set for a September 1st release date, will continue to follow the two primary protagonists from all three prior books: computer hacker Lisbeth Salander, and journalist Mikael Blomkvist. It will be a direct sequel to “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.”

Writer David Lagercrantz was chosen by Larsson’s estate, as well as the original Swedish-based publisher Norstedts Forlag. Lagercrantz is known for his crime related journalism, as well as co-writing the 2014 memoir of Swedish soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

While many are excited by this continuation, Larrson’s long-time partner, Eva Gabrielsson, opposes the decision by the publishing company. In an interview with Business Insider, she considered the pairing of Lagercrantz with the 80 million copy-selling intellectual property, a “totally idiotic choice.”

The dark crime noir series has spawned movie franchises both in its native Sweden, as well as in the United States.

Are you a fan of the Millenium Series? Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the choice in author? As always, let us know in the comments below.
