Chrysler Announces Prices For 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C

Alfa Romeo’s imminent return to North America took another step towards fruition this week with the announcement of prices.

The first to arrive will be 500 serialized 2015 4C Launch Edition coupes available mid-summer. In the U.S, Alfa will offer these special cars with a MSRP of $68,400, and in Canada at $75,995.

Later in the fall, the standard 4C coupe will arrive with a U.S MSRP of $53,900, and a Canadian MSRP of $61,995.

This news comes shortly after Chrysler announced the first 86 dealerships that will showcase Alfa Romeo cars.

Chrysler is calling the all-new Alfa Romeo 4C coupe an “attainable supercar.” On paper, it’s hard to disagree.

Comparing it to a Porsche Boxster, the Alfa will be similarly priced – $51,400 for a base Boxster with manual transmission – yet figures to be about a second quicker to 60 mph – 5.5 seconds for the Porsche verses an expected 0-60 time in the mid-fours for the Alfa.

To achieve supercar levels of performance, Alfa Romeo utilized advanced materials and state-of-the-art technology. The 4C features a carbon fiber monocoque, aluminum chassis structures and a composite body shell.

An all-aluminum 1750 cc direct-injection turbocharged engine produces 237 horsepower. It is mated to a paddle-shifted Alfa TCT twin-clutch transmission.

One of the highlights of the 2015 4C coupe will be its power-to-weight ratio. With a EPA curb weight of just 2,465 lbs, this Alfa boasts only 10.4 lbs per horsepower.

What do you think of Chrysler’s claim that the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C coupe is an “attainable supercar?” Do its rivals have something to be afraid of?
