Busiest Flying Times During The Holidays – Here’s The Days To Avoid!

If you are traveling by air this Thanksgiving, you will be among the over 24.6 million people expected to file through US airports. With an increase of  1.5% over last year, travel within the 12 days surrounding Thanksgiving Day will be agonizing.

Airlines for America (A4A), anticipates Sunday, November 30, to be the busiest day followed by Friday December 1. Over 30,000 additional  passengers will be traveling each day.

The lightest days for travel will be Thanksgiving Day and the day after.

“An expanding U. S. economy, rising personal income, employment growth and lower energy prices are driving growth in demand,” says John Heimlich, A4A Vice President and Chief Economist.

The airlines have made major profits this year, but won’t be reducing fares. Instead, airlines are offering more seats, improving customer service experience, and paying down debts.

The top traveled US airports are LAX, ATL. ORD, SFO, DFW, JFK, DEN, PHX, CLT, IAH.

If you are traveling this Thanksgiving, expect longer lines at check-in counters and be prepared for delays.
