Blackberry Unveils The Passport, To Cost $249 On Contract

The latest news from Blackberry is the unveiling of the new model “Passport” in Toronto, on 24 September.

The most striking feature of this phone being its boxy square shape.

It is packed with 4.5 inch square LCD panel and a resolution of 1,440 X 1,449 pixels. The phone will cost $599 off-contract and $249 on-contract in the US.

Prices are expected to be $699 in Canada and £529 in the UK.

Passport is the first BlackBerry phone to come with OS 10.3. Talking about its spec sheet, Passport is powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip. It has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (up to 64GB of external space with microSDXC ), a powerful 3450 mAh battery and a 13 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and optical image stabilization.

This phone is designed to impress the fans of physical keyboard and large display. Passport can display 60 characters per line making it easier to read and write.

Blackberry also included its first Siri-like personal digital assistant in this model. Passport users can also access all popular consumer apps from the Amazon app store.

Blackberry is calling it “the international symbol of unity” because its size and shape resemble an actual passport.
