BioWare Cancels Shadow Realms Development

BioWare Cancels Shadow Realms Development

Originally revealed August 2014, the 4-vs-1 cooperative RPG has been cancelled by BioWare Austin.

The game was set to release sometime in 2017 for PC.

BioWare Austin’s General Manager, Jeff Hickman stated, “”We fully recognize that this news is disappointing to some of our fans.”

The game had actually been created well, with a good amount of feedback and a solid concept. However, “…there are other projects for the team to work on within the BioWare studios for the coming year and beyond.”

These projects include possible expansions for Dragon Age: Inquisition, the up-coming Mass Effect and other games yet to be announced. “…they are excited and already deep on new projects within the BioWare family, ones that will make some great BioWare games even better.”

In addition, BioWare also hinted at plans to expand the Star Wars Multiplayer Massive Online game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.

“As every Star Wars fan knows, this is a massive year in the Star Wars universe,” Hickman said. “We have some great plans for expanding this epic game this year, and look forward to sharing the news about those plans with our players in the coming weeks.”

With such a short period between revealing and discontinuing it, how do you feel about the short-lived game of Shadow Realms? Do you feel 2K Game’s Evolve, which features the same ideas, may have been a factor in their shut down of the development?
