Avengers Age Of Ultron Earns Big Bucks

One of the most anticipated movies this summer has already garnered its weight in gold. “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in its opening weekend, has earned over $400 million dollars globally. With $85 million dollars brought in domestically, the highest gross on the foreign market comes from South Korea with $43 million dollars, followed by the U.K. for $39 million dollars. Its estimated budget was approximately $280 million dollars.

The fact that key sequences in the story were shot in Seoul, South Korea, is a likely contributor to the movie’s success in that country. Other filming locations included Johannesburg, South Africa, Hampshire, England, and New York.

The latest incarnation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) follows the team of super heroes known as The Avengers. Tony Stark, A.K.A. Iron Man, wishes to create the perfect defense system from future alien invasions similar to the events of the preceding 2012 film. Finding the solution within an artifact from the movie’s predecessor, the program Ultron is activated. Ultron, attaining self-awareness, as well as a hatred for his creators, becomes twisted from its original program of establishing peace. Heroes, new and old, are challenged to stop this new menace they contributed to its creation.

Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and James Spader, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is rated PG-13, with a run time of two hours, 21 minutes.
