Android N To Contain Pressure-Sensitive Screens

Android N To Contain Pressure-Sensitive Screens

More details have come to light about Android N, the next version of Google’s operating system.

According to The Verge, Google has confirmed that pressure-sensitive features will be built into the operating system.

Pressure-sensitive screens allow users to create shortcuts based on the amount of pressure applied to the screen. This will probably mimic the Apple 3D Touch feature in the iPhone 6S, where users can access an app feature directly from their home screen, without having to first open the app itself.

Since this feature will be built in on the Android OS level, it will be left to the individual phone manufacturers to decide how they want to use it, and whether they want to use it at all.

That means that not all Android phones will have this feature, and those that do may not have the same features that other phones may have.

Google has been releasing previews of its next OS release, Android N, in order to receive feedback from developers. The full OS name has yet to be revealed, though if the previous versions are any indication, it will probably bear the name of some dessert.
