2014 US Open Tennis : TV Schedule/Streaming/Key Match-Ups

Round 1 of the 2014 US Open kicks off today in Flushing Meadows, Queens, with some of the biggest names in tennis hitting the courts.

Today’s coverage will be split between the Tennis Channel, ESPN and ESPN 2 as follows:

11 A.M (EST)-7 P.M (EST) on the Tennis Channel

1 P.M. (EST)-6 P.M. (EST) on ESPN

6 P.M. (EST)- 11 P.M. (EST) on ESPN 2

Viewers can also catch all the action streaming live through the Tennis Channel Everywhere  or US Open Live .

The US Open Live site is free for everyone and available in the U.S. only.  The Tennis Channel Everywhere site can only be accessed through your existing cable/internet provider.

The Tennis Channel will also be broadcasting US Open Live from 11 P.M. (EST) to 6 P.M. (EST), showing all of the days highlights, interviews and more.

For those looking to catch the action in person tickets are still available but limited to individual sales only at this time.

Round 1 will have some exciting match-ups on the men’s and women’s side.  Here are the ones to watch:

Women:

Maria Sharapova -vs- Maria Kirilenko: match is at 7 P.M (EST).

Sharapova is going for her 2nd title here and is coming off a shaky season, as is Kirilenko, so this may be a lot closer than some have predicted.

Sharapova is fully recovered from her shoulder injury from last season, but it remains to be seen if she can recapture her old form.

Kirilenko has been plagued with injures all season: first her knee and more recently her wrist.

This will be close but I’m predicting Sharapova in straight sets: 6-4, 6-2.

The Danielle Rose Collins -vs- Simona Halep match and the Ana Ivanovic -vs- Alison Riske are also worth watching.

Men:

Novak Djokovic -vs- Diego Schwartzman: match is at 9 P.M. (EST).

With favorite Rafael Nadal out due to a wrist injury Djokovic is now the top seed and considered the favorite.

This should be an easy match for him, but since winning Wimbledon he’s been a little flat, so we’ll have to see.

I predict Djokovic in 3 sets: 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.

The Stan Wawrinka -vs- Jiri Vesely match and Robin Haase -vs- Andy Murray will also be closely monitored as both Wawrinka and Murray are seen as top contenders.

You can view the full day’s line-up on the US Open site.
