The NY Rangers fairy-tale season could come to a disappointing end if they don’t pull off another miracle victory tonight.
The Los Angeles Kings have a commanding 3-0 lead in the series, making tonight’s game 4 a must-win for the perennial underdog Rangers.
NY had been on a magical winning streak throughout the playoffs until now. L.A. won the 1st two games with devastating overtime wins, then completely shut the Ranger out in game 3 to push them to the brink of elimination.
Ranger fans are still hoping the team can gut one out and start an unbelievable comeback, but the stats aren’t too encouraging.
In the NHL, MLB and NBA combined teams with a 3-0 lead have won 98.4% of the time. 65% of the time they have won the series in 4 games.
The one bright light is that 4 of the 5 biggest 3-o comebacks occurred in the NHL, so hope is still alive.
Game 4 airs tonight on NBCS at 8 P.M. (EST). You can also watch the game streaming live on NHL.com and NBCSportsLiveExtra.
