1 Million People Are Testing Out the Tech Preview of Windows 10

A post by Joe Belfiore on the Microsoft Windows Blog has confirmed that a million users have started testing out Windows 10 since the tech preview launched two weeks ago.

Statistics gathered by the Windows 10 team show that 64% of the one million testers – 640,000 of them – ran the trial OS on a PC, while only 36% of the one million testers – about 360,000 – ran it on a virtual machine.

This means that 64% of the testers will be giving honest-to-goodness feedback about the long-term use of Windows 10 on a real machine as opposed to an hour or two of fiddling about with the OS on an emulator.

The Windows 10 team has already received 200,000 pieces of user-initiated feedback, and has implemented a “me too” system for testers that agree with or have experience with the feedback.

“It’s early days right now, but you’ll see the fruits of your engagement over the next year as you’ll see the product evolve,” says Belfiore on the Windows Blog.

Windows 10 sees the return of a number of key features such as the start menu and switchable multiple desktops.

Those seeking to try out Windows 10 must also be aware that the technical preview will record data (like voice and text input) while using the OS.
